Summit Rectangular Fire Table – Propane Gas GFRC Outdoor Feature

Wisconsin’s Lake Country is one of the few places where people genuinely design their outdoor spaces around year-round use — or as close to it as the weather allows. From mid-April through late October, most homeowners in Pewaukee, Oconomowoc, Delafield, and Hartland want to be outside as much as possible. A fire table extends that season by weeks on each end, turning a cool spring evening or a crisp October night into something worth staying out for.

At Castin Crete, we’re based in Hartland and we build concrete fire tables and fire bowls for homes throughout Lake Country. This is our backyard. We know what Wisconsin winters do to outdoor materials, and we build with that in mind from the start.

Why the Lake Country Climate Demands Better Materials

A fire table that holds up in a showroom doesn’t automatically hold up in Waukesha County. Freeze-thaw cycles are the primary threat to any outdoor concrete or stone product. Water works its way into micro-pores, freezes, expands, and eventually causes surface damage — spalling, cracking, color loss. Standard precast concrete and decorative cast-stone products are vulnerable to exactly this over time.

We use GFRC — Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete — which is engineered to handle those conditions differently. It’s denser and lighter than traditional concrete, and far more resistant to water absorption when properly sealed. The result is a fire table that performs and looks as good in year five as it did on delivery day, even after multiple Wisconsin winters. That’s not a marketing claim — it’s how the material is designed to work.

Propane or Natural Gas: What Actually Makes Sense for Your Property

This comes up in almost every consultation, and the answer depends on your property — not a preference checklist.

Lakefront lots and rural properties throughout Lake Country often don’t have natural gas service within reach of the patio. For those homes, propane is the practical choice, and we design around it. That means concealed tank storage — a flush access door that keeps the cylinder completely out of sight without making it inconvenient to swap. Many of our custom fire tables include this as a standard feature because it matters to how the finished piece looks and lives.

For homes with a gas line that reaches the patio, or where one can be extended, natural gas is the set-it-and-forget-it option. No tanks, no refills, consistent flame performance regardless of outdoor temperature. Either way, we size the burner to the table and the space, not to whatever happens to be in stock.

Custom Sizing, Finishes, and Everything That Makes It Yours

We don’t build from a rigid catalog. Standard dimensions are a starting point. If your patio needs a taller profile, a longer top surface for entertaining, or a finish that coordinates with existing pavers or stone, those are conversations we have before a single thing is built.

Our finish options range from natural concrete tones to blended, tinted, and textured surfaces. We can match to existing outdoor materials or develop a custom finish that stands on its own. Every piece is made to order, which means no two fire tables that leave our Hartland shop are exactly the same.
