If you’ve ever driven County Road K, in Oconomowoc you’ve probably passed our small commercial building without giving it much thought. It’s easy to miss — tucked along the road, quietly doing its job — but this little place has a story.
The building at N68W33790 County Road K was originally constructed as a small, independent auto dealership. For years, this spot served local drivers with vehicle sales, leasing operations, and auto-related services. It’s the kind of old-school local business that used to be common throughout Lake Country: simple, practical, and run by people who knew their customers by name.
As time went on, the building changed hands and took on new roles. Different trades and small businesses rented its suites — everything from office studios to creative workspaces to one-room operations for local professionals. The purpose inside shifted, but the structure itself stayed the same: a modest commercial building built for hardworking owners who needed a place to do what they do best.
Today, we’re proud to be part of that story.
One of these suites, once part of a rural auto dealership, is now home to The Modern Deck, where we meet customers, design one-of-a-kind pieces, and build the concrete work we’re known for. The building may look quiet from the road, but inside, it continues the long tradition of local, independent businesses shaping Lake Country in their own ways.
Different eras. Different uses.
Same small building serving the community in its own quiet way.
